How to Get Started with Therapy
A Simple Path to Getting Your Child the Support They Need
If you’re concerned about your child’s development, getting started with therapy may feel overwhelming. Our goal is to make the process clear, straightforward, and easy to navigate.
Here’s what you can expect when getting started at Wee Speak Therapy & Learning Center.
Why Choose Wee Speak Therapy & Learning Center?
At Wee Speak, speech therapy is about helping your child communicate more confidently in everyday life. Families choose our clinic because we provide:
Contact Our Office
Call our office to schedule an evaluation or ask questions about your child’s needs.
Our team will help you determine the next step and guide you through the scheduling process.
Obtain a Physician Referral
We ask that families come in with a referral from their child’s physician whenever possible.
This helps ensure collaborative care between our team and your child’s pediatrician, allowing everyone involved to stay informed and aligned on your child’s needs and progress.
If you’re unsure how to obtain a referral, our team can help guide you through that process.
Schedule Your Child’s Evaluation
Once your evaluation is scheduled, you’ll come to the clinic and complete a brief intake form. During the evaluation, your child’s therapist will:
- Review your child’s medical and developmental history
- Talk with you about your concerns and priorities
- Observe and interact with your child through play and structured activities
- Use standardized testing when appropriate
Review Results and Next Steps
After the evaluation, your therapist will review the results with you and discuss whether therapy is recommended. If your child would benefit from services, we’ll:
- Outline a personalized treatment plan
- Discuss goals based on your child’s needs and your concerns
- Help you understand what therapy will look like moving forward
Begin Therapy
If you choose to move forward, we’ll schedule ongoing sessions based on your child’s needs and your availability. Throughout therapy, we’ll continue to communicate with you, adjust goals as needed, and provide strategies you can use at home to support your child’s progress.
