Get Hands-On Experience in a Real Pediatric Therapy Setting
At Wee Speak Therapy & Learning Center, we enjoy working with students who are interested in pediatric therapy and want to gain real-world experience in a clinical setting. Whether you’re just starting to explore the field or completing required clinical hours, we offer opportunities to observe, participate, and learn alongside our team.
Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome undergraduate students who are considering a career in speech, occupational, or physical therapy. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Observe therapy sessions and shadow clinicians
- Assist with materials and clinic activities
- Interact with children during play-based sessions
- Ask questions and learn how therapists approach different situations
Volunteers are part of the clinic environment and are encouraged to stay engaged, be curious, and learn as much as possible while they’re here.
Externships & Clinical Placements
We also offer externship opportunities for students in therapy programs who need supervised clinical experience. These placements allow students to work more directly within the clinic while developing their skills under the guidance of experienced therapists.
Depending on your program and discipline, externships may include:
- Speech Therapy Students: Typically 8-week placements
- Occupational Therapy Students: Often 12-week placements
- Physical Therapy Students: Opportunities vary based on program level and requirements
A Supportive Learning Environment
We believe students learn best by being involved. Our team encourages questions, discussion, and hands-on participation whenever appropriate. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of pediatric needs and see how therapy is adapted to each child.
